Velcants are rubber profiles used as a component part of conveyor belts, being installed on their edge, as side walls. They are mainly designed to prevent the spillage of bulk material, while increasing the load capacity, on any type of conveyor belt.
Due to their corrugated shape , velcantes acan be made with great heights, otherwise maintaining their stability and being able to transport signifacnt amounts of material, and when combined with scrapers, they facilitate the transport of material even in vertical plane.
Velcantes are commonly used for conveyor system applications in quarries, in the mining, mineral and metal processing industries, being intended for high-capacity transport in narrow places over short distances with high inclination or on routes with horizontal and inclined portions in the wood or paper industry and the energy industry. The velcante rubber profile is made of a mixture of rubber based on SBR and NR, and on its sole is applied a self-adhesive rubber layer based on CR that adheres to the support (conveyor belt) by means of an adhesive solution film. Velcantes can be used in the temperature range -30° C... +70° C .
